Port of Amsterdam handles its own nautical schooling and training. Port of Amsterdam uses its own facilities, including a sophisticated traffic simulator. Port of Amsterdam's training is officially recognised.
This training creates traffic controllers and pilots and ensures they stay up to date with all expert knowledge. Our training is synchronised with VTS-training in Wageningen and Rotterdam, so that transfer between them is always possible.
Radio communication is a training for sailing and lock personnel. The purpose: ensure that users learn how to communicate with each other in a short, business and clear way and with VTS-posts. This training is also included in the education programme of the LOI, as part of Nautop I, II and III.
Starting dates are determined in consultation.
This training is targeted at keeping the skills of pilots up to a professional standard. We give the training together with Loodswezen BV, regio Amsterdam-IJmond. This is where the training is given.

During the schooling and training a traffic simulator is used. This computerised system is used to imitate the reality of shipping traffic. This simulator meets all the latest standards.

The diplomas of the VTS-education and the LOA are officially acknowledged by the Ministry of Transport and International Maritime Organisation (IMO). After passing the practical and theoretical tests, the diploma is presented by the National Nautical traffic service training (NNVO).
